A library is made up of many things – It is books, magazines, newspapers, DVDs, and CDs (books & music). It is the gateway to information. It is computers and wireless access to the internet, email, social networking sites, databases, and hosts of websites covering more topics than imaginable. It is a building with lights, carpet, tiles, furniture, and a roof.
It is a copy machine, a fax machine, and printers. It is story time for children. It is craft activities and classes. It is games and Legos. It is concerts and dance classes. It is exercise classes and cooking classes. It is lectures and riveting book discussions. It is knitters and writers. It is the staff who works there.
It is the Board of Trustees entrusted with running it. It is all of the above and much more. But most importantly it is you – the Public who uses and supports the library, that makes it what is really is – Your Local Public Library. |
